The demands of landscape painting make watercolor a perfect medium. The essence of watercolor is transparency, luminosity and fluidity. Washes allow light to be reflected from the surface of the paper through layers of color. This technique gives watercolor its unique glow and allows colors to be mixed by the viewer's eye creating a very individual visual experience, interpreting the complex and subtle aspects of landscape.
